COVID Update – 16.10.20

Dear parents/carers,

Thank you all so much for your cooperation so far this term. We feel it has been a very successful half term and children have really enjoyed being back. We feel they are now ready to move to their new class bubbles, all of which are still 25 children and under with 2/3 staff members. We will stay in the bubbles as before with strictly no mixing. This will mean that only one bubble will need to close should a child or adult become infected rather than the whole school. Bubbles will be as follows:

Germoe
Nursery/reception/younger Y1 – Miss Burns, Mrs Henry, Miss Fox
Older Y1 and Year 2 – Mrs Reeves/Mrs Knight/Mrs Fish
Y3 and Y4 – Mr Height/Mrs Winter
Y5 and Y6 – Miss Symons/Miss McLeod/Miss Green

Boskenwyn Reception/Year 1 – Mr Watson/Miss Brooks (back to full time except Friday pm)
Year 2 – Mrs Rusga/Mrs Knight/ Mrs Van Kesteren/Mrs Murphy
Year 3 and Year 4 – Mr Conway/Mrs Lawson
Year 5 and Year 6 – Mrs Nicholas/Mrs Harvey/ Miss I Blackburn

We will continue with the staggered start and finish times. These have been revised and a letter will be sent to you via email on Monday with the revised times and meeting points. We are still continuing with our blended learning afternoons on Friday so that teachers can all take their PPA on Friday afternoon rather than introducing another staff member to that bubble. We understand that this has been difficult for some families when both parents are working or where there is a keyworker in the family so we have scheduled a Friday afternoon childcare slot so these children can stay until 3.30pm. They will stay in their own class with their teaching assistant and complete the blended learning tasks as set by the class teacher. If you feel your child requires this care then please reply to the email that you receive on Monday to book a place.

We will continue with all other precautionary measures in place such as staggered break and lunch times, regular handwashing/sanitising and at least 2m apart from other bubbles. Children do not need to distance in their own bubbles.

We will not be swimming next half term and we will not be continuing with peripatetic music tuition either.

Next Friday will be the last day of this half term so we would like the children to transition to their new class/class teacher on this day. They can also wear fancy dress for a morning of fun and games (educational of course!!). As the cold weather is coming in, we have decided to offer hot meals from 1st November. All children in reception/year 1/year 2 will be able to have their meals free under the universal free school meals scheme. Other children are eligible to free school meals. If you are unsure whether you are entitled then please contact Anita or Mary and they will advise you. Meals are £2.20 and are to be paid via school bank or parent pay, more details will be sent with Monday’s email along with the new menu.

Thank you again for all of your support, have a lovely weekend.
